As many of you begin planning for next year, we know there is strong interest in seeing your updated APPL Index ratings. As you review your new index, we want to make you aware of several changes to team requirements designed to better balance flexibility in team formation with fair and equitable competition.

Important League Updates

  • Appeals Process Update: The Fast Track Appeal option will remain in place, with a tighter threshold of 0.1 below the skill level. If you submit a Fast Track appeal, you will ONLY be able to play at the appealed level. The standard appeals process will be discontinued.
  • Flight Minimums: There will be no merging of flights with fewer than three teams. If you participated in a merged flight this past season, we strongly encourage you to help recruit friends and fellow players to form additional teams and strengthen your flight for the upcoming season.
  • 2.5 Flight Update: The 2.5 division will be restructured as a development level. This flight will focus on player growth and experience and will no longer have a path to the State Championships.
  • New 70+ Flights: From Survey feedback we are introducing 70+ age divisions at the 3.0 and 3.5 skill levels for Gender (Women’s and Men’s) teams only.
  • New Substitution Rule: The requirement that substitutions be limited to “injury or illness” has been removed. Teams may now substitute a player for any reason, at any time. However, once a substitution has been used, no additional substitutions will be permitted—even in the event of injury or illness. The total number of substitutions allowed per match remains unchanged.
  • Free Agent App (Coming Soon): We are actively developing a new Free Agent tool to make it easier for players to connect, find teammates, and build new teams. This will be especially helpful for those looking to form teams in under-represented flights.

Below are the new Team Formation requirements:

70+ 3.0 and 3.5 Team Requirements:

  • 4 players at the required skill level.
  • Unlimited exceptions allowed within 0.5 of the skill requirement
  • Self-Rated and Appealed players will not be able to play as an exception
  • No playing down from rating

65+ Team Requirements:

  • 4 players at the required skill level.
  • Unlimited exceptions allowed within 0.5 of the skill requirement
  • Self-Rated and Appealed players will no longer be able to play as an exception
  • No playing down from rating

Open and 50+ Gender Team Requirements:

  • 4 exceptions allowed within 0.5 of the skill requirement
  • No playing down from rating

Open and 50+ Mixed Team Requirements:

  • 5 exceptions allowed within 0.5 of the skill requirement
  • No playing down from rating

Your updated APPL index is visible now. To view your rating:

  • Log into your regional website
  • At the very top, click Profile next to your name
  • In the banner menu, click Profile again
  • Your APPL Index / Roster Rating will appear below your name

Please note:

  • Only you will see your full 3-digit APPL Index
  • Other players (including captains) will only see your roster rating, so your captain may request your full index
  • Your new Roster Rating will not include previous letters that designated Appeal or Self-Rating (A and S)

You can view your team’s new roster ratings on your team page, and you can view other players’ roster ratings by selecting Ratings from the menu in the banner on your regional website and using the filters to find players.
