Dear Past West Valley Region Arizona Pickleball Players League (APPL) Players,
The Arizona Pickleball Player’s League (APPL) would love to have you come back and play with us. Our records indicate you have not played in the APPL West Valley Region league in the last several years. APPL has grown since you last played and we continue to offer an amazing competitive platform. We now have skill level groups 2.5 – 4.75+ and age divisions of Open (18+), 50+, 65+ & 70+. Last season we had over 6,000 players across Arizona in the Winter League.
Perhaps your old APPL Rating does not reflect your current playing level. We are offering you an opportunity to come back as a new player to APPL and Self-Rate with your current pickleball rating.
APPL is archiving all players who have not played in the APPL West Valley Region in the last three years. Your history remains in our Archives but will no longer reside within the current APPL membership. If you decide to play in APPL again, you will register as a New Player and will Self-Rate to start fresh with the APPL rating system.
We hope you will take this opportunity to rejoin the league. Any questions you have can be directed HERE.

Questions and Answers
- How do I determine my rating to Self-Rate?
You may use the Self-Rating Assessment form found HERE and/or use any current National Ratings you might have. APPL does not require a DUPR or other National Rating to play in our league.
- What if I want to continue with my old APPL Rating if I register for a new season?
You may contact support HERE to request to have your Archived history reactivated. This will reactivate your profile including your APPL Rating.
- I have played in different APPL Regions, one where I played over 3 years ago and one that I have recently played. Will both of my profiles be deleted in the 2 Regions?
No, only the profile in the region where you have not played in over 3 years will be archived. Your profile and rating in the region where you have recently played remains intact.
- I had 2 profiles in one region, one using an older email that I don’t use anymore where my last play activity was over 3 years ago. I have played in APPL in the last 3 years using a profile with my new email. Will both profiles be deleted?
No, only the older email profile will be deleted. Your new current profile and rating with your new email will remain intact.
- I don’t have a team, how can I find a team if I want to play in APPL again?
You may register as a Free Agent HERE to find other players looking for a team or connect with Captains looking for players for their team.
- When do I sign up?
Registration for the Winter 2027 Season starts in October. Sign up for the Newsletter HERE to receive the latest information about APPL.
- Will I be able to play as an Exception on a team at a higher skill level?
Self-Rated players may only play at their new skill level for their first season and may not play as an Exception (a new APPL 2027 season rule) on a team at a different skill level. Your Roster Rating will show an “S” for Self-Rating.
- Will I be able to play at my new skill level in different age-bracket divisions (Open, 50+, 65+, 70+)?
Yes. If you meet the age requirements for the Division, you may play at your new skill level in more than one age-bracket division.
- Can I form my own team?
Yes, you can form your own team. Gather your pickleball friends and discuss forming a team and participating in the league. Check out the information on the ‘Get Started’ page of the APPL website. There is information on how the APPL league works, how matches work and other information that will help you to form a team. Subscribe to the APPL Newsletter to stay up to date on APPL news.
