Roster Rating Standard Appeal

Ed is requesting to appeal from 3.45 to 3.5

Ed began the season at a 3.19 and continued to improve throughout the season ending up at 3.45. He played mixed and a merged division with open age players as his opponents. He was generally one of the higher rated players on the court often playing with 2.8 and less players and still winning enough for his index to steadily increase.

I feel that he is on a good trajectory and that his game continues to improve. He will do well to play in a harder division to see how he fairs.

I recommend approval of his appeal

Carol has not played since 2023. The final match of the season in the final game it bumped her to 4.01 and she wants to play 3.5

I recommend we approve the appeal request.

I have mixed feelings. This person has no documentable history of her skills either in pickleball or tennis since 2022.. My tennis playing friends state that a 4.0 tennis is like a 3.5 pickleball. She states she plays with 4.0 players but what does that even mean? Her rating from 2022 is 3.69. I feel that the fact that she had no documentation is too great. Her Dupr is 3.545. She has no pickleball brackets account. She has 2 wins and 6 losses in 3.5 in Dupr with the most recent one played in 2024

I am very familiar with this player. I was a sub on her team last year and played with her in two matches. We had never been on the court together before these matches. We did will winning approximately 50% of the games and getting the APPL point in the majority of the games. The team went on to win State. Renee played only four matches all year, two with me and two with a 4.18 player. Their results were similar to mine. At state only one of the matches was reported. Renee played with yet two new partners at state. Renee is a very strong player coming from a high level tennis background. She had her knee replaced two years ago so was unable to play that season. She came back this year very strong. She is one of the players that people like to play with as she understands strategy and is thoughtful about how her shot affect her partner. She drills with me and plays multiple times pers week in round robin play with 4.0 to 4.5 players. Her rating has steadily increased over the years and given the right partnership this year on our team, she will likely raise her rating to over 4.0. I believer her play style and play lever warrant the rating of 4.0
