Sue's rating bobbed around all year going between the 3.37 she started with and peaked for one game at 3.6 before going back to a 3.55. While she was over 3.5 most of the season it was usually 3.51, 3.55.... she only hit 3.6 at one time and only for one game of one match. While her husband COULD play up on a 3.5 team due to his age, his ratings are continuously low 3.2. with that being said, is she better than 3.0 yes, at 75 playing a a 65+ should that give her some grace when she plays with an 82 year old partner..... My feelings are if they are husband and wife and can even stand to play together on the same side.... they must be amazing people. I would vote yes based on age. But I realize I am pretty tenderhearted when it come to things like this. | |

With that being said, Helen has applied on a medical appeal. PER HELEN In March of 2025 I was diagnosed with Acanthamoeba Keratitis and as a result of the infection I am currently blind in my left eye. I have been unable to play pickleball at all for almost 6 months. I was on a team up in the White Mountains this summer but because of the pain, doctor's appointments in Tucson, and the inability to play at a competitive level with my team I did not participate. I am just getting back on the courts and doing the best I can with one eye. I am hoping to have a cornea transplant once they eye tissue is healthy enough, but even then, it is uncertain if I will have my sight back. Since she did not play at. all this season and. her APPl rating from the Southern Region is stale, I would like to have her approved either as a self-rated player or allow her appeal to the 3.0 level being only .02 above 4 years ago. She is blind in one eye which would make depth perception almost impossible. I ask that she be approved. | |

At state the mixed team took 1st place and the women's team took second. DeeDee is well-rounded player still in her 30's and could be an asset to Appl for many years to come. She did not play in 2024 so there is no recent information outside this year to consider. Did not win a single game in the three matches. The other two matches were against the state champion 4.0 50+ women. We had a tough league. I recommend she be allowed to play 4.0 | |

She is a special case and I spoke to Greg about her and he agrees with me that she should be allowed to play up. Madi is 31 years old and an exceptional athlete. She was a star soccer player and softball player locally and picked the paddle up a little over one year ago. I played with her in the beginning teaching her rules and drilling with her regularly. I hooked her up with several teaching pros as she was progressing quite rapidly. I tried to get a 4.0 18+ team to take her last year as I saw the potential but she was an unknown entity. Madi played throughout the season with her mother dominating the 3.5 competition. Their team won the league and qualified for state. Madi and Victoria chose not to go as Madi was involved in other tournament play at that time. Madi played only three matches. 2 with her mother and 1 with a 3.2 player. After that her index rose from 3.7 to 3.95 in three matches. She chose to go off and play in match point tournaments after that. Her DUPR is 3.99 but that came from two tournaments early in her year. After the tournaments she played in were not dupr rated. see below for her rated tournaments played with 4.5-5.0 players I believe she is the future of young Appl players and is a draw for others. I recommend the appeal be approved. | |

In 2024 she played 3 matches in mixed double 3.5. She was competitive. Her rating went from 3.7 to 3.87 which qualified her for a fast track appeal to 4.0 this past year. I have no idea if she has a dupr. The only Jill Anderson I could find that was close in age had a rating of 3.52 I do not feel that her current rating shows that she is strong enough to play 4.0. I recommend another year at 3.5 and she can play on 4.0 as an exception if they have room. |

I feel like the DUPR is not accurate due to sandbagging in 3.0 and the Appl reflects that she did not hold her own in the 3.5 league. I don't recommend the approval as the stats do not warrant it. |
