Ruth is wanting to play 4.0 up from 3.52. At first glance you would think no way. However Her dupr is 3.88. She has 162 wins and 246 losses in her dupr rating. It is a solid rating.

Her tournament play shows that she can hang at 4.0.
To add some credence to my improvement claims I will list the tournaments I played in this spring/summer with my accomplishments from them.
* July 2025 Rock Chuck Tournament - Gold Medal in the Women's 4.0
* July 2025 Pacific Northwest Classic Tournament - Bronze Medal in the Women's 4.0
* July 2025 Pacific Northwest Classic Tournament - Bronze Medal in the Mixed 4.0
* August 2025 Sunriver, OR Pickleball Club Tournament - Gold Medal in the Women's 4.0/4.5
* September 2025 - Sunriver Slam Tournament - Qualified for the Bronze Medal Match in the Women's 4.0 but ended up 4th.

I recommend we grant the appeal.

Sean should have been playing 4.0 last year. His capt rated him at 4.5 as a new player to allow room for others on his 4.5 team. He realized he should be playing 4.0 as the season transpired.
He needs to be on 4.0 and establish his rating this year at that level.

Jean played in a mixed division with 4.0 50+ and 4.0 18+ players. Our division was the only one where the 18+ were counted against us. All other divisions they were thrown out and not counted. Many of the 18+ players by the time she played against her had reached rating of 4.58, 4.6.

If you take the 18+ match off it raises her back up to a 3.89 she would have qualified for a fast track appeal.

She did not play in 2024 so there is no recent information outside this year to consider. Did not win a single game in the three matches. The other two matches were against the state champion 4.0 50+ women. We had a tough league.

I recommend she be allowed to play 4.0

Madi Nash is asking to appeal from 3.95 to 4.5. She is a special case and I spoke to Greg about her and he agrees with me that she should be allowed to play up.

Madi is 31 years old and an exceptional athlete. She was a star soccer player and softball player locally and picked the paddle up a little over one year ago. I played with her in the beginning teaching her rules and drilling with her regularly. I hooked her up with several teaching pros as she was progressing quite rapidly. I tried to get a 4.0 18+ team to take her last year as I saw the potential but she was an unknown entity.

Madi played throughout the season with her mother dominating the 3.5 competition. Their team won the league and qualified for state. Madi and Victoria chose not to go as Madi was involved in other tournament play at that time.

Madi played only three matches. 2 with her mother and 1 with a 3.2 player. After that her index rose from 3.7 to 3.95 in three matches. She chose to go off and play in match point tournaments after that.

Her DUPR is 3.99 but that came from two tournaments early in her year. After the tournaments she played in were not dupr rated.

I believe she is the future of young Appl players and is a draw for others. I recommend the appeal be approved.
