I played men's 50+ 3.0 and mixed 50+ 3.5 in the 2025 season. I was the captain and strongest player on my men's team that played in the state championship game coming only 1point from tying or 2 points from winning the state championship. I was surprised that we only had two players finish with a rating of 3.5 or higher.

One of the two players was my doubles partner for the 2025 season whom finished with a 4.0 rating (Bob Bauke). Bob and I played together as doubles partners in each and every match winning a majority of our matches (23-13 in the regular season and 8-4 in the state championship). I also would like to point out that I only played myself and Bob Bauke against the strongest opponents (all 3 matches against the Balls Deep team that was loaded with almost all captains picked rated players whom all consistently play 3.5 or higher tournaments). Also, including the semi final match and final match at the State Championships, we scored 481 points in 48 games for an average of just over 10 points per game. I realize the algorithm considers our opponents, however my partner finished the season with a 4.0 rating and we played the exact same games together. As for the debate as to who helped who between the two partners, my only thing that I can point to is our tournament records. After wining nearly a dozen 3.0 medals in my first year playing pickleball in 2023/24. In 2025 I have played much less events but, I have also won four 3.5 medals, two of them were gold, one in mixed doubles and one in men's doubles. My DUPR rating is 3.596 with a wining record and over 130 games played. My partner has a DUPR rating of 2.924 with only 1 bronze medal in 70+ mixed and a 12 month record of 3-14 in four tournaments played. Anyway, don't mean to bag on my partner, I am just trying to provide verifiable facts that are available on the APPL, DUPR and pickleball brackets portals.

My most recent tournament in Albuquerque was not managed through pickleball brackets. On request, I can provide emails from the director that list all participants and also a post tournament email that published the medalist for the tournament.
