I am having a lot of trouble with my back. I had surgery in December of 23 and missed most of January of 24. I am still working with Dr. Morris and use pain meds as needed. I was unable to finish the 25 season and my team had to forfeit the last two matches because of that. I am currently using hydro therapy as well as a licensed message therapist to help keep me on the courts. I do a 45 minute warm up before I play any type of Pickleball. I am able to play seriously twice a week. I try to limit myself to 5 games. I also play socially on occasion but still need to limit the number of games.
I found playing at the 4.0 level to be very hard on my back with painful recovery part of the norm. It is physically harder on my back to play 4.0 than 3.5.
Our 4.0 team only had 8 players so everyone needed to be available most of the time. The 3.5 team here will have 14 or 15 players so the wear and tear on everyone will be considerably less.

Spinal Stenosis. I worked with Arizona Pain , Dr. Paul Morris Fall of 2023-May of 2024. I had Steroid shots, and a Spinal Ablation. I also worked with Chiropractor Bryan Sim. My back flares up occasionally and I take pain meds. I maintain most of time using methods described above. I want to continue moving for a long time, therefore I would like to play pickleball still, but I need to limit the level and time played. As my Apple Index dropped at the level I was playing last year to very close to the 3.5 roster level, I would very much like to try playing at the lower level.
