APPROVE 3.65 TO 4.0
Played all 2025 season with Meniscus tear and a lot of pain affecting his W/L. The meniscus tears in his knee (which to quote the doctor, looked like shredded crab) were surgically repaired in July and he is now back to full speed.
His team got 2nd state 2025 and will now be playing 4.0.
He won about 50% of his games with his bad knee.
He had medical issues, got them fixed and now ready to go strong....

REQUIRED:

This past season, I was a member of the A Pirates in the East Valley 50= 3.5 Mixed league. Our team won the Region and placed in 2nd place in the State tournament. I am appealing to increase my rating or receive a medical exemption allowing me to play with the A pirates who will be moving up to 4.0 in the 2026 season. As the Pirates are utilizing their Exceptions to allow married couples to remain on the team together, I will not be utilizing this option to remain with the team. The basis for my appeal are as follows:

1) During the first APPL league match, I tore the meniscus in my knee in two places. Despite this occurrence, I continued to play with the team for the remainder of the season despite the challenges associated with the knee and my mobility. Despite this, I feel that I benefitted the A Pirates team in the matches that I played until sitting out the latter portion of the year and the State tournament.

My record in matches(with the noted exception to be addressed here) was 6 wins and 6 losses, playing with the affected knee. In the first match of the year, I was paired with Delia Wong, who despite being a very kind person, is not up to the caliber of 3.5 or above. Ms. Wong and I lost all six matches that day. Ms. Wong's rating as determined by APPL has been revised to 3.0 at the completion of the year. Combined with the meniscus tear that I suffered that day, the opening matches impacted my overall record and ultimately I believe, my rating at the end of the season.

The meniscus tears in my knee (which to quote the doctor, looked like shredded crab) were surgically repaired in July and I am now back to full speed. I hope that you will look positively upon my request allowing me to join the A Pirates in the 4.0 Mixed 50+ league for the upcoming season. I thank you for your consideration and would be happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have at this time. I may be reached at 480-893-3231 or at termin8er@cox,net.

Best wishes,

Jim Knaut
