Roster Rating Standard Appeal

A friend asked me to play in the 2023 and 2024 seasons to help fill out the roster. I was new to pickleball and did not understand what I was signing up for.

Although I played with stronger partners in 2023, I won only 4 games and lost 14.

In 2024, I only played in 1 match (1/31/24) and lost all 6 games. After playing that match, I did not play for the rest of the season.

In both seasons the other players severely outplayed me. It was not fair to me, my partners, or my team to be playing at that level.

I did not play very much pickleball in 2024 or 2025 for several reasons. In 2025, I have been experiencing problems with my sciatic nerve that I am working my way through.

However, I have been asked to play on a Women’s 65+ 3.5 team. This matches my skill level better and should be much more enjoyable for me.

Between 2023 and 2024, my overall APPL record was 4 wins and 20 losses. I am not sure how my APPL Index increased from 4.0 to 4.32. With these few games, the reliability of the rating is questionable.

I completed the APPL Self Rating Index on 9/17/2025 and only scored 37 on it. It was not even close to a 4.0 rating score. With a score of 37, the self-assessment would indicate my rating should be 3.0.

I respectively ask that my Roster Rating be set to either 3.0 or 3.5 so I can play this season. If granted then I expect the results of the season will reflect better my skill level and subsequently, a new APPL Index.
